RABBIT HOLES

Everyone needs a rabbit hole. Composed as invitations to prolonged inward gazing, the Rabbit Holes are about escape, fantasy, and imagination. The series draws the viewer toward the small, hidden openings of alpine forests — homes of mountain creatures. Captured up close and printed at human size, these openings become portals, revealing curling textures and quiet passageways. Each image offers a moment of retreat, a place to go where anything is always possible, created so that everyone can have their own private entry point into elsewhere.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Photographed on large-format film in the Swiss Alps, this series was created while wandering mountain trails in search of rabbit holes — small dwellings tucked into the forest floor, belonging to the unseen creatures who live there. These openings felt charged with possibility, like thresholds into worlds with their own quiet magic.

By enlarging them to human size, I aim to shift perception: to let these tiny openings become expansive, immersive spaces for the imagination. Their curling forms and colourful details are composed as personal retreats — places where viewers can withdraw, reflect, and inhabit a moment of inwardness.
